The Bulgarian Zionist Federation called on Boyko Borisov to dismiss the infamous Toma Belev from the Civil Society Advisory Council to the Council of Ministers. A declaration of the organization signed by its Chair, Yakov Dzherasi, was sent to the leaders of the political forces in Bulgaria. It states that Belev, who is a candidate of Democratic Bulgaria for the Municipal Council of Sofia, “uses inadmissible expressions associating the current transport practices in Sofia with the deportation of Jews during the Second World War.” This refers to the post of the pseudo-ecologist on Facebook: “The cheapest transport was provided to the Jews in freight cars – entirely free of charge.” “After years of propagating the idea that Bulgaria is a source of tolerance not only towards Jews but to all other nations and peoples, I believe, that Mr. Belev does not deserve an official post of any kind or official association to and financial support from any Bulgarian state institution.” The declaration also highlights that “the World Zionist Organization is appalled by the words of Toma Belev and advises the Bulgarian Parliament to firmly distance itself from people showing such antisemitic tendencies and attitudes.” Desant.net
