The Supreme Administrative Court (SAC) has overturned the order issued by Borislav Sandov regarding the "Koral Bay" protected area, resulting in the state being required to pay 8,000 BGN in compensation to those affected.

The order establishing the "Koral Bay" protected area has been annulled by the SAC, as confirmed by the Ministry of Environment and Water (MOEW) to BTA. Earlier today, the "Green Movement" reported the court's decision, stating that the Ministry has been ordered to cover the plaintiffs' legal expenses, amounting to nearly 8,000 BGN.

The "Green Movement" called the annulment of the "Koral Bay" order a farce, claiming that it aims to destroy protected natural areas for private and corporate interests.

BTA reminds that on July 7, 2022, then Deputy Prime Minister for Climate Policy and Minister of Environment and Water, Borislav Sandov, declared Koral Bay a protected area. This decision prohibited the entry of motorized and motor-sailing vessels into the bay. The order also banned the construction and installation of artificial underwater reefs, attractions, and other similar structures.
